Admission for GFS consists of three stages:
  1. Admission to entrance exams
  2. Entrance exams
  3. Interview
Conditions required for admission to entrance exams

1. Filled Application Form together with required attachments: i.e. certificate of secondary education or secondary school leaving, ID photos, curriculum vitae with motivation letter answering the question: Why do I want to be accepted into Gdynia Film School? 

2. Portfolio documenting the artistic achievements of a candidate, including:

• Short feature, documentary or animated film made with the use of any technique.

• Original literary works: 
◦ an idea for a script of a short feature film on a given subject [choose one]: “Love and anger”,  “Hearts don’t lie”, or “The lust of money”. 

◦ an idea for a script of a short documentary film in which the main character is related to               Gdynia, Sopot, Gdańsk or Cassubia. 

• Photographic works on given subjects: 

◦ a triptych photography entitled “Who do I love?” 

◦ a photographic story entitled „A story about my neighbour”. 

3. Candidates may also include their own works – film, literary, photographic or artistic – documenting the current artistic achievements.

4. Admittance fee of 200 zł paid on the bank account of Pomeranian Film Foundation in Gdynia:
NORDEA BANK POLAND SA O / Gdynia 86 1440 1026 0000 0000 1045 6142 or paid in cash at the secretary's office of Gdynia Film School in Gdynia, Wrocławska 93.

Entrance exam

1.Screenplay task.
Writing a short film story on a given subject.

2.Narrative task.
Creating a story based on stills from a feature film.

3.Working with an actor.

Directing a scene on a given subject.

4. Additional examination exercise
can be given to a candidate by each member of the Examination Board in case of any doubt about the candidate's clear assessment.


Interview with candidates about the works documenting their artistic achievements and about the exercises carried out during the entrance exams.
