Admission for GFS consists of three stages:
  1. Admission to entrance exams
  2. Entrance exams
  3. Interview
Conditions required for admission to entrance exams

1. Application Form with name, date and place of birth, address, telephone and e-mail address.

2. Required attachments:
  • certificate of secondary education or secondary school leaving certificate
  • two ID photos
  • photocopy of identity card
  • curriculum vitae with motivation letter. Why do I want to get into Gdynia Film School?
  • Medical certificate permitting to study directing and cinematography
3. Admittance fee of 50 zł paid on the bank account of Pomeranian Film Foundation in Gdynia:
NORDEA BANK POLAND SA O / Gdynia 86 1440 1026 0000 0000 1045 61 42 or paid in cash at the secretary's office of Gdynia Film School in Gdynia, Armii Krajowej 30/2

4. Portfolio documenting the artistic achievements of a candidate, including:
  • Short feature film or a documentary, or animated [from 15 seconds to 10 minutes] carried out in any technique and recorded on a DVD-Video or as a file in one of the popular formats - MOV, MPEG, MP4, or AVI.
  • Literary works:
  • the script or an idea for a short feature film [2 to 10 pages]
  • the script or an idea for a short documentary film [from 1 to 5 pages].
  • Photographic works on a given subject [choose one]: 'My World' or 'Love-Hatred'.Photographic works should be described [entitled] with a chosen topic.
  • Candidates may also include their own works - film, literary, photographic or artistic - documenting the current artistic achievements.
Entrance exam

1.Screenplay task.
Writing a short film story on a given subject.

2.Narrative task.
Creating a story based on stills from a feature film.

3.Working with an actor.
Directing a scene on a given subject.

4. Additional examination exercise
can be given to a candidate by each member of the Examination Board in case of any doubt about the candidate's clear assessment.


Interview

Interview with candidates about the works documenting their artistic achievements and about the exercises carried out during the entrance exams.

9. Gdańsk DocFilm Festival
35 films from all over the world will be competing to win Brama Wolności Award during the 9. edition of Gdańsk DocFilm Festival [Godność i Praca/ Dignity&Work] which will take place from 4th till 8th May 2011. The Gdynia Film School is a partner of the festival.9. Gdańsk DocFilm Festival
Today is the last day to submit films for the Beautiful Twenty-Year-Olds Festival of Young Cinema which will be held from 14 to 16 April. The films can be submitted by the secondary school and university students. The jury will be composed of the two lecturers from the Gdynia Film School: Paweł Łoziński and Rafał Listopad.Beautiful Twenty-Year-Olds
